Hard wiring a Video Doorbell 2 without existing doorbell

I have a Video Doorbell 2 on battery. The house does not have any existing doorbell wiring. I wish to install a 16VA/30V transformer for the purpose of hardwiring the VD2. I am confused by the support database. Should I install a resistor somewhere, or not? What kind of resistor and where?
