Flag keeps setting off motion even when zone is turned off

I turned off the motion zone for the area where my flag is, but I keep getting motion alerts. And sometimes I get 3-4 alerts at one time even though my settings are on "light." I have the 1st generation doorbell and would prefer to not move my flag if possible. I feel like I've tried everything, but obviously it's not good enough.
