Ring Video Doorbell
Doorbell wiring
We wanted to take down our old wired doorbell chime but leave the wiring to continue powering our new Ring doorbell. We’ll cover the box with a blank plate. Has anyone done this that can offer advice about how to “complete the circuit” without a regular doorbell chime?

@AmyJaneC This is actually my preferred solution. Mechanical chimes are one of the most troublesome parts of Ring installs. Powering directly from the transformer gets round all of this. You just need to make sure the transformer supplies the required voltage and that you check out the help article supplied by Tom.

Hi @AmyJaneC. It is absolutely possible to wired your doorbell directly to a low voltage transformer. The specifics will vary depending on which model Doorbell you use, but this Help Center article [here](https://support.ring.com/hc/en-us/articles/115003495766-How-to-Connect-Your-Ring-Video-Doorbell-2-Directly-to-a-Low-Voltage-Transformer-Without-a-Pre-existing-Doorbell-) has a great illustration.
