Connecting ring wired to chimed doorbell
Help please. I have a ring wired doorbell and I am trying to connect it to my chimed doorbell. After trying a number of different options (bypassing the chime and changing which wire the doorbell connects to ) I think I need a transformer. I have bought the DIN rail transformer and connected it to the wires in my chime (completely bypassing the chime). There are 4 different thin cables so I have attached 1 to each of the 4 ports on the transformer but nothing works to power the doorbell. The wires all look the same and none look like a power cable but I understand it has a different power setting. I have tried changing where the wires go but none of the combinations work. The doorbell is connected to a different wire on each screw. Again there was no clear delineation between the different ports. What I am doing wrong? I probably need an electrian but though I could fix it myself. Thanks

Hi @user25572. I’m happy to chime in here. If you are installing a Din Rail Transformer with your Video Doorbell Wired and are having concerns, it's best to consult a qualified electrician for further assistance.

UI understand that but I bought this unit on the basis it was easy to install to an existing wired chime unit. Before paying extra I want to make sure I have the right equipment and connections. It is not as easy as all to marketing makes out. I just want a working product.

Hi @user25572. To start, can you please confirm which model of Video Doorbell you have? The model name (Video Doorbell 3, Video Doorbell Pro, etc.) can be found on the original packaging, on the back of the Doorbell, and on the Device Health page in the Ring app. Additionally, what is the make and model of your chime kit? A doorbell circuit is comprised of the doorbell, a chime kit, and the transformer, so there should already be a transformer in your home if you have an existing doorbell. Do you know where this is located?
