Stick up Cam (3rd gen) loosing connection when recording
troubleshooting

Tried everything, router/modem resets, cam reboot/reset/update, 2.4/5Ghz networks switching. Camera goes online initially even indicating good RSSI levels in the low 40's. It seems responsive to motion but no recording happens. Only empty motion alerts. When trying live view it disconnects and goes offline. Even siren is not responsive. Looks like wifi tx is having trouble. I am in warranty period. Please let me know what to do. Thanks

Did it ever work? Or has it always been like this? Does this happen every time, or intermittently? Did you try testing it inside near your router? Will it do snapshot captures? If you have other Ring cameras, will this Stick up record if its triggered by another Ring camera? Do have other Ring Stick up Cams that work OK, or do they all have this issue? If other cameras work OK, can you out a working one in the same location and move the defective one next to the router to test? Do you have other brands of security cameras that work OK in the same location as the defective camera? Do you have repeaters or a mesh network? That sometimes messes things up. But if you have other Ring Stick ups nearby that work OK, then that would not be an issue. I bought a three pack of Stick up Cams last Thanskgiving, and they have been quite buggy. They've had a variety of unexplained issues, and now they are having regular empty motion alerts. They are also close to the router with RSSI levels in the low 40s. The previous issues seemed to go away with repeated reboots and power cycles (popping out the battery). One issue with not charging through the solar panel finally went away with daily remote reboots for almost two weeks. At least that was the only thing I could think to do; not entirely certain that was the fix. Lately, I've noticed more and more empty motion alerts. Today was the worst that I recall, I had 12 empty motion alerts today, mostly from the three new Stick ups. I even power-cycled the modem and the router and then rebooted the Stick ups afterwards. Empty motion alerts still occurred. No idea what is going on. Live views on these cameras are fine. I have an older three pack of Stick ups (3rd gen) bought a year or two ago that have been mostly problem free. One of them occasionally has empty motion alerts or green or fuzzy videos. That one is farther away from the router, but again, it has been happening more frequently recently. My thoughts are 1) bad recent batches of Stick up cams and/or 2) something going on with Ring servers. But there is no way for us to trouble-shoot, and Ring doesn't seem to be up to trouble-shoot like they used to many years ago. Assuming you are quite certain that it isn't your wifi set up, you could spend more time trying to get it to work (regular reboots, power cycles, etc.) and see if the issue resolves. But it's frustrating and can be a waste of time. Or, if you can still return and exchange or buy a new one from where you bought it, that would probably be easier than doing the warranty process.
