Security Camera motion detection issues

Our front doorbell Ring stopped working lately. Double checked the wiring and power was being supplied to the door but the Ring device lost power. Disconnected and reconnected it without any changes. Simply dead. Tried figuring out how to reset it to no avail. It was about 3 years old. Took it off and pitched it, replacing it with the original doorbell. Now, coincidentally, we noticed the Ring Camera installed in our back yard is not picking up items it should’ve and would’ve picked up recently. Made sure the camera and sensor area was free of dust; readjusted the zones; turned up the sensitivity to maximum. Still missing things, mostly after dark. Camera image quality is still as sharp as ever and fully connected. Question: What is the life expectancy of these devices (am not talking about battery life but the device itself)? Does the motion detector deteriorate over time?

Hi @DaVoran. There isn't a specific timeframe I can give you, as there are several different factors that are going to impact the performance of a Ring Doorbell or Camera. Performance issues with a specific feature, such as motion detection, can typically be resolved with some general troubleshooting. Reviewing the Motion Zones and Motion Sensitivity were great steps to take. I'd also suggest checking the [signal strength](https://support.ring.com/hc/en-us/articles/217271526-Checking-Wifi-Signal-Strength) on the Device Health screen, as Ring Cameras and Doorbells need a strong internet connection for optimal performance. You will also find a [reboot](https://support.ring.com/hc/en-us/articles/7438395032980-How-to-Reboot-your-Ring-Doorbell-or-Security-Camera-from-the-Ring-App-) option on the Device Health screen, which will only take a few moments and can help clear up issues. If these concerns persist, it would be best to follow up with our support team for more in-depth troubleshooting assistance. You can reach our support team at one of the numbers available [here](https://support.ring.com/hc/en-us/articles/213608406).
