Ring Spotlight and Floodlight cameras record too long
floodlight-cam

I have a floodlight camera and two spotlight cameras (one battery and one wired). They have recently started recording for about 12 minutes every time motion is detected. No changes were made before this. There's not even an option to record this long. I believe 120 seconds is the maximum record length. Troubleshoot steps taken: Reboot Power cycle (disconnect power and reconnect) Changed record length to auto, 60 sec, 90 sec, and 120 sec. Did a factory reset of the flood light Contacted tech support and they had me Unlink the devices Adjust motion sensitivity to lower Re-install app on my phone (andriod) Unfortunately, none of these steps resolve the issue. My call with tech support got disconnected, and did not get to continue troubleshooting further P.S. my doorbells and stickup camera are working as expected.

Hi @user_955fd0. Do you have an Alexa device with a screen linked to your Ring account by any chance? At this time, Live View automatically times out after around 10 minutes, so it sounds like these long recordings are due to a Live View. If you have an Alexa Routine set up to view your cameras when motion is detected, that could be what is causing this.

Thanks Caitlyn. Unlink my devices from First TV Stick appears to have resolved the issue.  Is there a fix for that so I can reenable that feature? I had that feature turned on and it worked great until recently. The issue occurs only when 'Person Detection Announcements' is enabled in Alexa app Already restarted Fire TV Stick

@user_955fd0. Was this an Alexa Routine you had set up? By default, motion detection would not bring up the Live View on a linked Alexa device, such as a Fire TV or Echo Show. In that case, the solution would be to turn this Routine off, and only keep Doorbell Press Announcements on.

Caitlyn_Ring, No, I don't have Alexa Routine set up. And I did not make any changes before this.  In my Alexa app, 'Person Detection Announcements' was enabled for these cameras.  When they detected a motion/person, they would send a live feed to my FireStick TV. And the live feed would stop when Ring stopped recording. However, these cameras now continue to record for about 12 minutes, even after Ring stops recording. During that time I can't view live feed or events in my Ring app.  I have tried, resetting FireStick, un-linking cameras, and disabling/re-enabling the cameras.

Hi @user_955fd0. Have you checked to see if your FireStick is up-to-date? If you have a smart TV, it might also need updating. Let me know if this helps.

Tom_Ring Yes, it's up to date. I've also rebooted it several times.  I can view live cameras just fine, but I can't have 'person Detection Announcements' enabled.  If it's enabled, it'll continue to record for 12 mins.
