Battery Life Not Long Enough

Hello All, I purchased and installed Spot Camera Hardwired version. I didn’t know that, all spot cams come as a Battery operated version in a box. When one purchases “wired” version, a separate box with wiring kit comes with the Spot Cam Battery box. This is a smart idea by the company, since they don’t have to manufacture difference versions(models) to accommodate the various purchasers. Now, the product. Specifically the battery life. Remember, the unit comes with 1 battery with the Spot Cam + the wiring kit. When installed, the unit recognizes as a hardwired version and pretty much automates the setup process. The setup process is seamless and effortless. Kudos to Ring company. After everything is setup and programmed the mode settings, the motion settings (one can customize the area that the motion sensor covers), and other various settings, the power to the unit was cut off purposefully to see how long the battery would last. Under this scenario, the battery is used as a back-up power source in case there is a power outage. The battery lasted only 10 hours! I thought the battery life was 4-6 months, and depending on the activities of how many times the motion gets alerted, the motion triggered light comes on, and yes, the strength of WiFi signals, the battery life gets as short as 2-3 months; this information by the way, came from one of the representatives I called and spoke to, after experiencing only 10 hours of battery life. At the rep’s recommendation, I got a 2nd battery, charged it, and installed into the unit. The Spot Cam now had 2 back-up batteries. Under 2 batteries’ power, both batteries lasted 18 hours! I called back the customer service center and this time, a more knowledgeable agent answered and I explained my plight. He then told me that, I had to go to Device Settings > General Settings > Power Mode. The Power Mode indicated “Wired.” Click on that and the next screen showed “switch to battery mode” option. He told me to change it to Battery Mode." This and only this method allows the user to have the Spot Cam on a battery power with ‘normal’ battery life of 4-6 months. And under Battery Mode, the motion coverage is reduced substantially, and Motion Warning," cannot be used. Repeat, under Battery Mode, many of the useful features are limited and motion warning CANNOT be used. I hope soon, the Spot Cam Wired version go into Battery Mode automatically when the power outage occurs, AND without degradation of many features that are available on Wired Mode. After all, an ordinary user does not know how to set Battery Mode from the Wired Mode and does not know that, under Wired Mode, when the power is cut off, the battery usage is enormously huge and the battery only lasts few hours and less than 1 day even with 2 batteries. One last bit of information, when the user switches from Wired Mode to Battery Mode, and vise-versa, the user has to reset the Motion Settings, the Mode Settings, the Light Settings, Video Settings, the Volume Settings. In other words, the Spot Cam does not keep or save previous settings. So, each time the user changes the power source setting, all subsequent settings, other than ‘GLOBAL’ settings, must be set again.
