How does cellular backup work in Portugal?

Hi there. I understand only Ring Protect Plus customers can have cellular backup in their Ring Alarm System. But how does this work, exactly? Do I need to buy a SIM card and respective mobile data plan in Portugal or, from the moment I subscribe, I don't have to worry about any extra costs?

Great question, @Silviovieira! The cellular backup is a feature of the Ring Alarm, which only requires the subscription to the Protect Plus plan, as you mentioned. Whenever you lose network coverage and the Alarm Base Station falls offline, it should automatically connect to a cellular signal for backup. No further action is needed on your side, as the cellular towers in your region should allow for this backup to work. Check out our [Help Center article](https://support.ring.com/hc/en-gb/articles/115005323926-What-Happens-When-Your-Ring-Alarm-Goes-Offline) for more information on battery and cellular backup. :)
