Careful. Ring Plan upgraded without consent
This month without my knowledge Ring upgraded my plan to premium with professional monitoring which costs double. Good thing I caught it or Ring would have gotten away with dishonestly taking more money than I had agreed to. I have never used professional monitoring. This also just happened this month to other family members who I introduced to this company and now it’s my responsibility to help them fix it since they are all elderly. Have you ever asked a person over 60 to log into their email??? I can’t let ring take advantage of them and I can’t send them to customer support they are too old. This whole ordeal is going to take so much time reversing this greedy act by Ring. Extremely disappointed in Ring. Could the extra $10/mo from unsuspecting customers really be worth their reputation as a security company? No answer from customer support other than to post here. Definitely feeling betrayed by this company I trusted enough to recommend.

This really reminds me of the first Black Mirror episode in the new season I believe it’s called Common People.

Just had the same experience. I only happened to notice that I was charged double when reviewing my credit card statement. When I called Ring, the customer rep literally admitted on the phone that they just did this to all of their customers without anyone's consent. Incredibly shady. He tried to not give me a full refund at first until I kept fighting it. So many people will not notice and will be scammed. I also have recommended Ring over the years & will no longer be doing that as they clearly are no longer a trustworthy company. As a security company, you would think they would care about maintaining their customers' trust. Absolutely ridiculous.

HI @user_2f1c8e. I can't view account or plan details, since the Community is a public forum, but I can share some general information about plan changes that may apply to your situation. You can always view your specific plan details by logging in on Ring.com. For further support, you can contact our social support team directly @Ring on Facebook, X, or Instagram. Ring Protect subscriptions were changed to Ring Home subscriptions on November 5, 2024. It sounds like you may have been a Ring Protect Plus (1st Gen) subscriber, and your plan recently renewed after April 8, 2025. At this time, your plan would have been migrated to a new Ring Home subscription plan. An email notice should have been sent around March 10, 2025. You can learn more here https://ring.com/support/articles/7zvp5/Ring-Protect-Plus-1st-Gen-Information.
