Domestic Violence

This is feedback, not a question, as I have already contacted Ring customer support and they assured me this was all my fault. In 2024 I bought a doorbell camera from Ring. While I was gone, my brother took it upon himself and without my permission to open the package, setup the device to his phone, and install it. At the time our relationship was fine. However, he has since become a violent drug addict who owns a gun. Tonight i called local police and they came out to advise me on how to begin the process of taking out an order of protection against him since he's admitted to breaking his girlfriend's arm and showed up to my home unannounced and let himself in. I had a conversation with the police on my front porch, having forgotten the camera was there, and now he has full access to the video of the conversation. Even after explaining the situation, offering to give them police incident reports, and again letting them know this man has a gun, the company won't so much as suspend his account temporarily so that I have a few days to ensure my safety without him knowing about the conversation. I'm absolutely flabbergasted that a home security system has no plan on place to ensure the safety of domestic violence victims in emergency situations. So if you buy this product, you better make sure that you're home when it's delivered so that nobody can open the package and install it under their name. Make sure you only install it yourself so your abuser can't access video from it. You better make sure you make absolutely no mistakes because if you do, Ring will remind you that your abuser's "privacy" is more important than your life and it's all your fault anyways.
