Ring Motion Sensor set a false alarm after a battery check
The other night the home alarm was triggered by one of the motion sensors. We checked and there was nothing around, neither human beings nor animals. Looking at the even history there is something weird happening before the motion detection, the sensor did first a kind of battery check (batteries are few weeks old and charged) with the following steps: 1) Battery Is Ok 2) Battery Is Full 3) Motion Detected None of the other motion sensors have similar cycles in their history. Is this a unit defect? What to do?

Hi @user_d85e13. I can understand how this is concerning. There's a few things to look for in the room that the motion detector is in that can cause a false alarm. First, look for a vent that could be blowing hot or cold air. The Motion Detector uses passive infrared, which means it detects differences in temperature. This could also be something like a computer or home appliance or even a window. Also, if you have a pet, that could cause a false alarm. To test if your unit is defective, you can place it in a box where there is no motion and see if you get a false positive. Let me know what results you have.
