Wired Doorbell Won’t Finish Connection

We just upgraded our old Ring Battery Video Doorbell to a newer Ring Wired Video Doorbell. We mounted it and began the install process. Everything seems to work up until the few final seconds of before a successful install, when it shows the percentage of connection at about 90%. Then it stalls, says it can’t connect to the Ring WiFi signal it emits, and reverts back to the initial install screen.  We tried the install process a few times, then connected with Ring Support via phone and did the install process a few more times, all with the same result. He chalked it up to being a faulty product, so we returned it and requested an exact replacement. But now we’re having the same exact struggles with the new doorbell.  Has anyone experienced this? It’s not far from our router, the router is newer, it’s off the floor, and none of our other products (Stick Up Cams) have had this issue. Even our old battery doorbell, which was hardwired in, didn’t have this issue. I’m just stumped as to what the issue could be, and Support hasn’t know  either.

Hi @user_7a237a. What type of phone are you using and what version of the Ring app is installed? Depending on your phone type, you may need to turn off a specific setting, either wifi assist or smart network switch. You can learn more about this here. Let me know if this helps.

Hi! I tried with an iPhone 12 Pro on iOS version 18.1.1, and my husband tried Google Pixel 7. I’m not sure what the app type is for the Ring doorbell we’re trying to install. I can try the instructions later today, hopefully they work!

Hi there! Just tried to install the Ring doorbell per the troubleshooting suggestions in the article you linked. I’m still experiencing the same issue - it loads to 95% and then says it can’t find the Ring internet. I also tried on my older iPad and still have the same issue.  Could it be our router? I’ve restarted it per the suggestion and it’s still the same error. We have other ring devices on the network so I don’t know why this doorbell isn’t connecting.

Hi @user_7a237a. The Ring internet would be the temporary setup network that the Ring Doorbell broadcasts during the setup process, which you should be prompted to connect to on your phone or tablet. Is this the part of the setup that you are getting stuck at, or are you able to connect to the Ring network and move on to the step where you enter in your wifi information?

It initially connects to the Ring WiFi, goes through the set up process after it connects, then gets to 95% and says it can’t find the Ring WiFi. Then it starts the whole install process over again.

@user_7a237a That's odd, since you are initially connecting to the temporary setup network. Bluetooth should be enabled on your phone the whole time. At this point, I would recommend following back up with our support team directly, since this issue has persisted after a replacement. Support may need to look into what's happening on the back end.

When I call the support line, I’m walked through the steps to install 3-4x’s, then told it’s a defective doorbell and to return it for a different one. Who else should I call?

@user_7a237a You can reach our support team at one of the numbers here, or @Ring on Facebook, X, or Instagram. When you reach out, make sure to mention that you've already received a replacement are still having the same issue. We unfortunately do not have access to account or device details on the Ring Community, since it's a public forum, so we cannot troubleshoot further.
