What will happen if I choose to not use the jumper wire? I want to hear my doorbell chime when I push the doorbell button.

I think the initial question has yet to be answered. I just replaced a gen 1 video doorbell that no jumper wire was required. For the gen 1 doorbell, when you pushed the button it triggered the app and also rang the original wired doorbell in my house. Recently I just replaced this gen one with a new video doorbell that says I must connect the jumper wire to the front and trans screws. I did this and the ring doorbell works fine. However, the doorbell on the wall now no longer rings so people in the house won't know if somebody rang the doorbell unless they have the Ring app on their phone. The instructions said you must install this jumper but all that does is bypass your old doorbell. So returning to the guys original question, if I don't install the jumper does the ring doorbell not get enough voltage to operate? And the old doorbell on my wall won't work for the same reason? So if I MUST use the jumper and the old hardwired doorbell now no longer works, how can house occupants know when someone is at the door????

Caitlyn. Thanks for the message. I’ve heard that Ring did testing and that certain manufacturers and models of external chimes will continue to work. Can you supply that list?

I have the same problem. In fact, I had a Ring doorbell and the inside rang fine. It quit working, and ring sent a replacement. Now the inside no longer works! Very frustrating…
