Ring Video Doorbell
Video Doorbell 2 Hardwired, Connected, White LED's stay on, battery does not charge
I hardwired Video Doorbell 2. Everything works as it should with 2 exceptions: 1. The white LED light circle around the push button stays on constantly; 20 hours now. 2. Battery is hardly charging at all. In the past 20 hours the "Device Health > Power; Hardwired Stauts" has gone from 67% to 71%. The battery is not able to 'trickle' recharge when the white LED's are constantly using power. I have read that the white LED circle constantly on is an indication that the set up failed, but everything connected and working properly. I hardwired it to a Nutone 20v(AC) transformer with a mechanical chime in the circuit. I checked it with a meter; 19.9v(AC) at the transformer and the push button. Ring instructions say 8-24v AC transformer is required, so I am within specification The Video Doorbell 2 has been in use for about 2 years on battery power alone. Battery life has been good, only needs to be taken out and recharged every 2 or 3 months. After hardwiring everything connected normally, Blue Lights Flashed, motion detected, motion alerts working, video records appropriate events, live view works, the app connects. Pushing the Ring button causes both the Ring Chime and the old NuTone mechanical chime to sound as it should. The app no longer shows "Battery Strength", it shows "Power; hardwired, Status %" As expected. I have gone through the 'reset' 4 times, 2x using the little 'reset' button, and 2x removing the battery. Same result, everything connects normally except the white LED circle stays on continuously. It never did this on battery power. The Video Doorbell 2 is in the same location, my router is in the same location, no other changes except hard wiring.
