Set up doorbell from another state

I gifted a ring doorbell to an elderly relative and would like to add it to my account so I can pay for their subscription and control the settings. Is there a way I can set that up from a distance? We are not in the same state.

Protect Plan subscriptions are based on location, thus adding a Ring device to your account that is located in a new location, would still require an additional plan. This means you can either attempt to walk them through the device setup while they are signed into your Ring account on their mobile device, or you can sign into their Ring account to add payment and subscribe. Those would be the best "remote" options. Otherwise, physically being at the location for setup is best, as mentioned above. :)
