Ring wired
I've owned a Ring video doorbell 3 for a long time, but always had it on battery power. I bought a second battery so I could switch out the batteries without losing any power for long. I got tired of that. Today I connected my doorbell to an old doorbell wires. I charged my battery completely. When I pressed the ring door bell, both the ring doorbell and my old doorbell chimed, so I know it's hooked up. the reading on my voltmeter at the old doorbell wires was 12.5 AC volts. I also have 3 chimes (2nd generation) throughout the house. Everything works fine; the chimes sound when my doorbell detects motion. The Ring doorbell, the old doorbell, and the chimes all sound as they should when the doorbell button is pushed. I have not yet checked for the listen and talk parts of the system, but will later today. When I check the doorbell's Device Health on my iPhone app, it shows that the power source is Battery and the battery level is now 98%. I thought that it wold show the power source as Wired and the wiring would trickle charge the battery and keep it at or close to 100%. The process of changing the system over to wired took an extremely long time, and now it appears my labor was for nothing. Can someone help me with my problem and tell me why the Device Health is not reading Wired and why the battery charge seems to be waning. Please be very specific with your answers and walk me through any suggestions step by step; dumb your response down for me as I am not that great with electronics. Thanks ahead of time!!!
