Ring Video Doorbell 3 Aug 17 2022 at 1:00am this happened to us. Buzzing noise as if the house chime was engaged and horrible burning smell; i removed and it stopped. I reinstalled and no issues so far. If you are not home I don’t know how this ends well. I have not tested our chime without the Ring 3, but, would imagine the traditional chime is fried or damaged, will inspect later today. For everyone’s awareness; this can be reported to [www.saferproducts.gov](http://www.saferproducts.gov/)

Hi @spkeegs. I would recommend checking the [installation](https://support.ring.com/hc/en-us/articles/360038902531-How-to-Physically-Install-Your-Ring-Video-Doorbell-3-with-an-Existing-Doorbell) of your Doorbell 3 to make sure it all looks good. You will also want to look into the transformer, making sure it is within the following specs: 8-24 VAC, 40VA max, 50/60Hz. It must not be a DC transformer. If you are not comfortable with doing so, we strongly recommend consulting a qualified electrician. Your safety is our top priority, and our support team is always available to address any safety concerns. I just experienced this problem with my new install (same model). The wiring is correct. The transformer is within spec. All was fine after I tested it yesterday. Today, however, my existing chime rings and then starts buzzing. There was no movement on the Ring camera and no button was pushed. The chime's solenoid started cooking and after I removed the cover a spring and plunger fell out. I haven't done any testing on the chime with the former doorbell button but I did check the specifications on the chime's transformer as well as measure the voltage (21.3 VAC). Please provide a solution to this problem. Thank you!

Similar situation here. Replaced original Ring Pro with Ring Pro 2. Replaced the ring pro pack as instructed. Moments after power up, started smelling burning. The wires to doorbell chime were warm but the electric box for the door bell was super hot. Call support, pending call back [told up to 72 hours].
