.Ring Pro - wired to stand alone transformer- resistor/ diode required?
hardwired-video-doorbell

There seems to be Mnuchin confusion as to whether the “Pro” requires a resistor for stand alone transformer. Instructions make no mention of needing one and another link seems to indicate a whether a diode is required ( a resistor is not a diode). Some have claimed that adding a resistor prevented Ring from starting ip. So which is it? Ring needs to do a better job of clarifying what products do and don’t need to install!

Good question, @Bronco19! For the Video Doorbell Pro model, you will not need a resistor for installation. Included in the packaging will be a Pro Power Kit, which can be used as a bypass cable for a direct wiring to a transformer. Here is our [help center article](https://support.ring.com/hc/en-us/articles/115005974466-How-to-Bypass-your-Internal-Doorbell-with-the-Pro-Power-Kit-V2-for-Ring-Video-Doorbell-Pro-) with steps on how to do so. I hope this helps! :)
