Ring Pro cracked button
Is there a way to fix a cracked door bell button? our delivery drivers for various packaging companies have strong fingers it seems.

I have the answer to cracked button issue: I called RING and they told me since the door bell is out of warranty, they will give me a 35% discount on a new unit. Therefore, I can get a new button for $424. :) Such a deal. Alternative: I desided to hang a note on my RING doorbell unit indicating that this cracked doorbell will not be replaced because RING wanted $424 to send me a new one. Have a nice day RING.

HAHAHA now i have packing tape holding the button to show how great this product is. seems this is a VERY common issuse/flaw RING, please man up and address the issue instead of sweeping it under

My button cracked as well. They told me out of warranty. Seems like poor workmanship to me.

EI agree, the most used part is not replaceable? I’ll be looking for the first HomeKit compatible doorbell when ring pro fails and it will when moister gets into that crack.

PThis is caused from direct sun on older units with no heatsinks, the new RingPro have a heatsink. Mine is cracked in the same place.

Ring needs to test what happens when people push the doorbell button with their thumb-nail or fingernail instead of their thumb or finger. The damage in the pics does not look like pure heat-induced splitting, but more like pressure-induced splitting caused by possibly a finger-nail on already degrading material.

Mine is also cracked. There should be an easy replacement for a plastic cap, but chat says the whole unit needs to be replaced. I'm not sure I want to invest in another one if that's going to happen.

$249 doorbell should last longer than 2 years. Nowhere does it say that the button may not last if exposed to the hot sun. It's a product marketed to be used in the outdoors. This is a design flaw that the company is refusing to address. And they are offering no solution to customers except to buy a new one with $100 discount. All the money in the world and this is how Amazon treats people.

JI have the same crack in my doorbell as well and currently the ring doorbell is not working. It is also only 2 yrs old. My Ring doorbell never gets direct sunlight or excessive heat.

AI just discovered that the button on my ring doorbell pro is cracked (it faces late afternoon sun) and it does not connect to wifi anymore. Spending $200 for a product that does not last 18 months is not a wise investment. The 12$ doorbell it replaced lasted 16 years and was still functioning. I am very disappointed and am now questioning the robustness of the ring doorbell pro.

BThe same here. After about 12 months the button has cracked. Ring Support indicates as the unit is out of warranty (October 2018 purchase), so I am out of luck. Not good for their premium doorbell camera model.

ABased on another comment in this forum, I called Ring support even though my ring doorbell pro was out of warranty. They were phenomenal in listening to my complaint about the cracked button and non-responsive ring doorbell pro at 17 months. They graciously agreed to exchange my doorbell after a brief discussion and receiving photos of the cracked button. The replacement arrived in a few days, and I installed it right away. The new version included the angle mount with a different screw layout than the after market one I bought with my first ring doorbell pro. The replacement unit itself looked like it had a built-in heat sink on its backside. The screws supplied with the replacement unit to mount it on the angle mount were to thin to properly fit the old after market angle mount. I ended up re-drilling holes and mounting the replacement's angle mount and covering up the old raw plugs as best I could. The rest of the install and setup were as before and worked perfectly. I am very pleased that Ring stood behind their product and replaced my broken ring doorbell pro. I am also hopeful that the replacement ring door bell pro will last a bit longer then the one it replaced based on the visual differences in the two versions.

BI am glad Ring was responsive for you. Not the case for me. I spent a good 30 minutes with the support representative, providing all the requested infomration, including MAC address and photos. They declined to replace the defective unit repeatedly stating they had no descretion in the matter when the unit is out of warranty. Obviously you found an agent who somehow had discretion.

At this time, there is no way to fix just the button the Ring Pro. You will need to call support for further assistance. As always, we will send your feedback to the team.

CI just noticed today that my Ring Pro has a crack in the button as well. This is certainly a design flaw in that it was not tested properly to withstand the sun. My regular doorbell was there for 13 years without cracking. I agree they should make these Ring buttons to last longer then under 2 years. I’m pretty sure that my warranty is up.

YSame here, I find kind of unacceptable to have this issue after before 2 years that I bought the product. It was no "cheap" almost $200. So Ring want me to spend another $200 for another doorbell that needs to be replaced again in another 1 year and 8 months? Unbelievable :(

ASame for my Ring Elite. Its less than a year old and just noticed it today. I bought the Elite since its direct wired, but there is no way I'm buying another $500 doorbell to replace this one.

YThis is an update in my case.... So basically I contacted Ring Support team they really helped me a lot! Seems they are aware about the situation and also the new version they are releasing seems to have an improved button. After my Ring Pro was out of warranty they sent me a replacement unit and I sent back the faulty one. For me since the replacemente unit came in a retail box I was able to sell it and moved to another brand (Google Hello) since all my home enviroment is on Google and not in Amazon. The only downside is I'm not able to see my camera in my Samsung Fridge but well I feel that Google Hello has more support and development. Just my 2 cents. Thanks Ring team and also I recommend the Tech Support team they are friendly and great kudos for them!

SSame issue here, looking over the recording it seems that the delivery guys are really trying there best to break the Ring Pro button because they do not want to be recorded. Mine is broken now. @Ring, please make the device tamper-proof, add this as a product feature!!
