Ring doorbell software chimes when computer comes out of sleep mode?

I have the Ring software insalled on my macbook pro. If my computer is awake it will sound a chime when somebody is at the door - which is correct. However - if my computer is asleep and I've had a visitor who has pressed the doorbell (at any time during my computer being asleep), the ring software then chimes when computer comes out of sleep mode - even if my computer wakes hours later (and not when somebody is actually at the door). It is as if the chime notificaiton is queued to play no matter what. Is anybody else experiecing this issue, or know a fix?
