Ring Video Doorbell
ring doorbell plug-in adapter
The documentation including the installation manual for the ring Video Doorbell 3Plus states it can be hard-wired to an 8-24 VAC doorbell transformer, and also states "Either wire can connect to either screw. The order doesn't matter." which also suggests the power source should be AC. And it states: "Do not wire your Video Doorbell to a DC powered intercom system or other DC power source." However, the ring video doorbell plug-in adapter at $24.99 on ring.com or amazon.com states these specs: Power Input 100-240VAC, 50/60Hz, 0.5A Power Output 24VDC, 0.5A, 12.0W --like a typical switching power supply with DC output. Which information is correct? In other words, can a DC power supply power the ring doorbell, and if so what is the acceptable voltage?

Hi @kinckkname. For hardwiring, you have 2 options. You can hardwire to a compatible transformer, or use our Ring Plug-In Adapter. No other power sources will work.
