Have good luck with my ring doorbell till the battery went down to 3%, I've got it hardwired so I took it off and charged it up full, now I have it back up and working but it's not holding the charge what is my problem?

Hey neighbors! When connected to existing doorbell wires, with a power supply of 8 - 24VAC, the voltage will provide a charge to your Video Doorbell battery. With normal use and optimal conditions your battery will stay charged. Check out our [Community post for tips](https://community.ring.com/t5/General-Questions/Device-Tips-Battery-Draining-Quickly/m-p/1136) on how to optimize your battery life between charges. You are stating what your sales literature says "will" happen without replying to the question as to what is actually happening. I have 20.6 volts ac at the terminals of my Ring doorbell but it will not charge. The Ring app is telling me it is operating off battery power. Please, for me and all the others with this problem, offer a solution or you will surely be receiving thousands of these units back for a refund.

If the weather is cold the battery will NOT take a charge from the hard wiring according to searches I have been doing. As far as I am concerned this is a fault of Ring for cold weather climates and is TOTALLY unacceptable. I have spoken to 4 people with cheap imitations and their doorbells are working find and dont need charging and dont stop in -20 weather. Ring should have an update so the batteries will charge in ANY weather. Sorry the reply is kind of negative to the user but I have complained and am totally fed up. Will not buy another Ring product and will NOT recommend to anyone. Thanks for listening Neighbor as they call us.

That also doesn’t make sense , because I used it for 2.5 consecutive years and I had 0 issues. They changed something on their end! After Christmas 2019! That’s all. @Ring, fix it!

Not really, at least no solution. They keep saying they will refer it to their design people. It is extremely annoying. Everyone else can make it work but not Ring. What is the point in hardwiring if you still have to remove the battery to recharge all the time in cold weather. Very unhappy to be honest and would NOT buy another Ring product. There are others out there without the same problems and cheaper.

I’m pretty sure something has happened since a recent firmware update. My ring doorbell 1 has been wired and always stayed at 100%. It’s now starting to drop following a recent update.

Mine too is hardwired and doesn't charge the battery. I have to bring mine inside and charge just like before it was hardwired.

My doorbell no longer shows being hardwired. I don't know if it's the hardware or the software that's the problem but Ring needs to address this issue. Considering getting a Nest Hello video doorbell and be done with these problems.

I just went through an entire day trying to figure out why I was having the same issue. I have the correct transformer, wires all in place... it was not until I was about to give up that I replace the unit back onto the bracket and PUSHED really hard. I admit I was frustrated. It worked. Why? Because it was not making solid contact. The bracket was slightly twisted. When I pushed down to place it back on the bracket, it went on tighter than ever before. The white light came on. The app said "hardwired". PTL it worked.

I think the problem is the app itself. Mine's hardwired and the battery has been going down and the app says the battery is at 83% so I just brought the video camera in to charge it but when I plug it in to charge it all of the blue segments are lit up inticating a full charge. Update: after 5 minutes it's now charging as if it's at 83% so it seems that hardwiring my video doorbell is just for the light ring around the doorbell button. RING!!, Please address this issue and not with a canned response. I apologize for sounding rude but this is a wide spread problem that isn't being addressed and I'm very frustrated. The whole reason I went with Ring instead of the other guys is from what I had read before purchasing Ring was the way to go. Please prove me right!! The very least I hope I can get a replacement unit. By the way I live in Central Florida and it's been warm.
