Ring doorbell 3 will not ring inside

Just hardwired our new ring 3. The app says it is hardwired but our original door bell will not ring. We put the leads together and when they touch it rings inside. We tried switching the wires and still nothing. Our trasisiter says our specifications are correct for usage. Our original worked prior to installing the ring.
