Ring doorbell 2 battery issues

Hi,I recently hardwired the ring doorbell 2 using the diode and it worked for a bit then stopped charging so I just left it and switched off the power.Now I have an issue with the battery, it has 41% according to the app but it’s offline, I tried to charge it and when I plug in the charging cable I get a flicker of orange and only the green light stays on which I think means that the battery is fully charged, it’s impossible for it to be fully charged but it also doesn’t appears to charge either.I’ve had it about 2 years, is it normal for a battery to die after 2 years or can anyone help?Thanks in advance
