The night image has deteriorated over time where very little is visible even with an outside light. The doorbell seldom defects motion at night also, even though motion is occurring. This doorbell is much more disappointing than the original Ring. There seem to be no settings to correct this issue.

I am having the same issue it started about 2 months ago. All the sudden you can’t see anything at night. You can see the difference in the 2 pictures. I did not change any settings/lighting between the 2 pictures. Thinking about switching to google nest hello doorbell.

Hi Chelsea, thank you for your response. We have had the ring doorbell 2 since November of 2018. The night picture has always had slight issues with not having the greatest/brightest picture, but it wasn’t until the end of March or beginning of April 2020 that it became even darker and basically use

I too have had issues for a while with darkness - it's like ring is trying to get me to upgrade to the next doorbell - snide tactics - happened over night. I have just down graded £8 for 2 devices to £2.50 based on principle. Seriously considering scrapping all ring products. Spent over £250 plus al

Please enable more video options on doorbell 2 - brightness and contrast for one!

I have exactly the same as I read in this thread, I do have a ring video doorbell 3 but experience the same since a month of 2 or 3 the night vision is very bad. The camera has not moved anywhere it on the same spot. Previously I could easily see everything in the street now I cannot see anything, all dark. Yes its close to a wall. But this issue wasn't there when I used the ring before. This must have something to do with an update or something

I am sad to see more of you are having this issue. I just now stumble upon this thread after searching the web and endless conversations with customer service about this. They really tried everything to help me (I got a lot of free stuff and now feel reluctant to contact support again). My conclusion after a lot of testing is that something changed in de camera software. It might have to do with HDR. I had the Ring Video Doorbell (2nd generation) and the night vision was super. ![image|690x387](upload://phon65MWvpx5izvCVoALXG4Fwx5.jpeg) I decided to upgrade to a Ring Video Doorbell 3 Plus and my night vision was much darker (It has more IR lamps??!)This triggered a lot of trouble shooting, with no real solution. Eventually a Spotlight Cam was sent to me to solve this issue (The bright leds on it help ;)) But also with the night vision of the Spotlight cam it seems off. It also has the HDR option. I wanted to attach more pictures illustrating that there is a difference in the night vision between the Stick Up Cam Battery and Spotlight Cam, but I can’t because I’m a new member of this forum. 2 IR leds on the stick up vs. 4 IR leds on the Spotlight. This feels like the issue Netflix had with HDR. It feels like there is a dark layer over the screen. It shouldn’t be this dark when upgrading. Hope that the developers read this and can fix it. I don’t want any more work arounds and trouble shooting :frowning:

I have the same problem. If Ring has a solution to this problem, why not list it here so ALL of us dont have to call support?

Very true just post the solution and say if doesn’t resolve call or email customer services. I have to Cameras and night vision at front perfect, the ring door bell at the front is so poor at night not worth it. All covering same area.
