Ring 2 battery life and re-setting up doorbell each time

I have the ring 2 doorbell. For some reason the battery is not holding a charge and I am having to switch it out quite often. Also when I put the fully charge battery in it having me set up the device all over again and each time. Is this normal? I do have it on the medium setting for notifications but lately it’s been running low on battery time . Please help
