Ring 1 doorbell not charging
troubleshooting

My doorbell battery for ring 1 is not charging even after I change the transformer to 16VAC/30VA. I have the wireless ring chime, so I unhooked the 2 wires on my mechanical chime. Any ideas? I’ve had to manually charge the battery for past 5 years, because I had under powered transformer. Best Regards, Np

Hi @user32126. Hardwiring a battery powered Doorbell to an existing doorbell circuit will provide it with a trickle charge in order to help extend the length of time between charges. If you want to install your Doorbell directly to the transformer, you will need to follow the instructions outlined [here](https://support.ring.com/hc/en-us/articles/205180710-How-to-Connect-Your-Ring-Video-Doorbell-Directly-to-a-Low-Voltage-Transformer-Without-a-Pre-existing-Doorbell-).
