Older versions of app
Hi All, Is it possible to install an older version of the ring app? Currently I have version 3.49 and it works fine. Now I want to install the app on a second (same model of phone), but the new version of the app is no longer compatible with my phone. Seems I cannot select an older version. Thanks in advance. Peter

Hey neighbors, you cannot download an older version of the Ring app due to security reasons. It is important to use the latest version of the Ring app as it will ensure you have the latest bug fixes and security updates. You can find more information on mobile device compatibility [here](https://support.ring.com/hc/en-us/articles/4812209807124-Mobile-Device-Compatibility-and-the-Ring-App). If your phone is unable to be updated to the required version of either iOS or Android, you won't be able to download and use the latest version of the Ring app.

WWell, true, you can't install an old version of the Ring app by getting it from Google Play Store for Androids or App Store for IoS devices. But you CAN get it elsewhere. I found that out the hard way today when a Ring tech support technician told me to uninstall the Ring app on my old Samsung Galaxy S7 running Android 8 and then reinstall the latest version, which of course my phone does not support! I didn't know that, but this guy should have known not to tell me to do that, but he did, which left me with a perfectly good phone that no longer had the Ring app on it. Huge mistake on his part!!! So, no way to control my entire home Ring security system and all of it's 20 devices I've installed in the last few years! So, it looked like I was stuck with buying a new $1,000 phone to get my Ring system working again. I used to be an IT guy years ago, so I looked into this issue for several hours. I found out that YOU CAN install an old version of the Ring app on your phone. You just can't get old versions from Ring, but you CAN get it from online vendors who specialize in providing the APK (Android Package Kit) files that contain the entire old version. I found the old version 3.49.0 that was previously installed on my Galaxy S7 on one of those online provider's web sites. I downloaded it to my computer, copied it from my computer to my phone and installed it on my phone. The 3.49.0 version is installed on my phone again and once I logged into Ring from it with my username and password all of my devices were listed as before, and it's working just fine. So, there IS a solution. Ring should NEVER tell an existing customer to uninstall the Ring app from their phone unless they first determine if their existing phone will support the new version of Ring!

AI've got the same problem, iPhone6. I now have a camera, chimes that do not work cause it deleted the app & then said it cannot install due to old age, yes I'm old, 68, so I do not have the cash to buy new phones or camera & chimes. It wiped everything, passwords, email address, codes. Pity i cannot recover the info cause the phone was attempting to update & wiped the old info. Rather P++++ off.

I'm cancelling my service because the app is no longer compatible with my phone. I'm not spending hundreds of dollars on a new phone just to use this product. I now have a useless doorbell and indoor camera. What a waste of my money!
