Ring Video Doorbell
My ring video doorbell - 2020 release won’t charge from wired
Hi guys, I just wanted to know if my connection was done properly by a registered electrician. I have a video doorbell 2020 release that’s wired without a chime through a greenbrook bell transformer that has an input of 230v 50/60hz and an output of 4-8-12v (1a). The problem I’m having is, the battery is slowly depleting and seems as if it’s not being fed sufficient power with the transformer that’s installed. Any experts on here please advise? Thank you.

Transformers do die. Make sure that you are getting 8 to 24 volts alternating current (not direct current) to the wires at the back of the Ring doorbell.

Hi @l_jon123. The Ring Video Doorbell (2020 Release) can be hardwired to an existing doorbell system or transformer with 8-24 VAC, 40VA max, 50/60Hz for a trickle charge. This trickle charge will help keep the battery topped off, but depending on how much activity your Doorbell sees, the battery may discharge more quickly than it can be trickle charged. You can also see the installation instructions for how to wire the Doorbell (2020 Release) directly to a transformer in our Help Center Article [here](https://support.ring.com/hc/en-us/articles/360041190411-How-to-Physically-Install-Your-Ring-Video-Doorbell-2020-release-Without-an-Existing-Doorbell).
