Motion questions from a newbie

I have a Ring 1 (first generation) and a ring 3 both battery powered Why does my ring camera capture us leaving the house, walking to the car, but didn't capture us leaving the driveway in the car? We did wait a little bit to make sure the camera had time to "cycle". I noticed it does need around 40 seconds to a minute to reset itself. Also why doesn't both rings capture full motion, like it will capture a car or truck halfway passing the house or driveway
