Lost cat Video trigger
motion-settings

Recently our cat escaped our house. We have been looking for him for four days. We are using The ring doorbell to capture images. However some cats, strays, are getting by the ring camera and not setting off any alerts. How do I set up the ring camera so that even cats set off alarms? Thanks for all your help!

Hi @Ctohelpsu. I'm sorry to hear about your cat! While it depends on what path the cats take when crossing your Camera's view, you can try adjusting some of the settings to give it the best chance of detecting any cats passing by. You can increase the sensitivity and adjust the [Motion Zones](https://support.ring.com/hc/en-us/articles/210243483-Utilizing-Motion-Zones-with-your-Ring-Devices), as well as adjust your [Motion Frequency](https://support.ring.com/hc/en-us/articles/115003477106-Understanding-and-Optimizing-Motion-Detection-with-Motion-Frequency) if you have a battery powered device. I hope that helps! :)

Thank you for your reply. I have done all of those things. I have even moved the ring doorbell down to ground level and raccoons and cats walk right in front of the camera and it does not trigger the alerts. I am in live view most of the time so I see them approach that might be part of the reason it does not trigger. Thanks again

@Ctohelpsu Thanks for that additional information. You are correct, the Doorbell will not trigger a motion event if you already have the Live View open, as it is already recording the Live View event. I hope that helps clarify things a bit.
