Installing Ring Video Pro 2 Without Any In-house Chime

I am trying to install a new Ring Video Doorbell Pro 2. Here’s my specific situation: (1) I can easily supply 24 VAC (40VA max) to the two existing wires going to the existing doorbell. (2) There is no in-home chime. (It was contained within an old M&S intercom system.) Questions: (1) I assume I do not need the Pro Power Kit or Pro Power Cable? (2) Do I need to install a resister in the 24 VAC supply line? I saw some references to this in the community comments but don’t know if they are relevant to my situation. (3) Anything else I should know to make this work? Thanks in advance!

Hi @MDB. If you are installing a Ring Video Doorbell Pro 2 directly to a transformer, you do not need to install the Pro Power Kit. The Pro 2 can be connected directly to the transformer without anything in between. 🙂

Justin, I just asked for clarification on a separate thread, but the installation instructions that come with the transformer ordered through ring specifically state that the transformer is to replace one installed with a chime. I would like to install directly to transformer, and it seems like there's no additional steps necessary to hardwire the pro 2 like you're saying, but the instruction pamphlet places a caveat on this, and would appear to contradict what you're saying.

@Amicone. The Hardwired Transformer sold on Ring.com can be hardwired directly to the Pro 2. This wiring diagram for a Pro 2 direct to a transformer might help as well. ![Screenshot 2023-08-14 at 11.46.13 AM|557x471](upload://gGVJgOsvV5V9scks4QSydhVITiR.png) We strongly advise consulting a qualified electrician for assistance if you are not comfortable with hardwiring or dealing with high voltage.
