Horrible Faceplate Material, Erosion!!!

The faceplate material or finish has eroded so horribly, it looks like someone aggressively took sandpaper to it. We barely touch our doorbell and not often do people actually ring the doorbell. I get a little bit or wear and tear, but this is beyond that. How can this be? I reached out to customer service last night and someone helped me, but my question is do newer ring doorbells have the same issue? I was sad to find out that you cannot change the faceplate on the 2nd Gen because that would be an easy fix.

Hi @user_11f9c9. Ring devices that are intended to be installed outside, such as the Ring Doorbell, are weather-resistant. However, different weather conditions can still cause some wear to the device. Factors such as extreme heat or cold, humidity and excessive rain, can all wear down the device over time. Physical damage concerns, whether they are cosmetic or not, should always be brought to our support team. They can review the damage and your device's warranty to determine what options are available.
