Battery life lasts a week

I have the video doorbell 2nd gen. The first charge lasted me about a month, and then just as the free trial ran out, the battery started only lasting a week. I’ve turned off motion detection, have all the settings set to the least battery consumption, and have now bought the chime pro wifi extender to see if a stronger wifi connection (I’m upstairs) helps it last longer. Is this normal? What else can I do? I can’t opt for the solar thing as my front door is under a balcony, and I can’t hardwire as it’s a rental.
