Spotlight cam Plus (wired) motion zones not working

I’ve seen similar posted before and Ring support can’t seem to help. My camera seems to ignore the custom motion zone I set up and still seems to record when motion happens anywhere in the field of view. So I get lots of nuisance alerts. I’ve tried a reboot, tried deleting and recreating zones far far away from where I want to exclude the motion. All to no avail. It says the firmware is up to date? Is it a bug? (I don’t think it is user error as my ring doorbell and other ring camera (a floodlight ring cam) operate as expected. It’s just the Spotlight Cam Plus that is giving me headaches)
