Spider webs blowing in the wind are triggering my motion alerts
How can I prevent spider webs directly in front of sensor from triggering motion alerts on my spotlight cam?

I am incredibly frustrated by this too. I have turned on People Only mode on my Stick Up Cam Elite that hangs from the ceiling in my screened lanai. Since we live in FL, there is no shortage of spiders and small flying instects that find their way into the screened lanai. I have the Ring cameras integrated with Alexa so we are frequently woken up in the middle of the night with Alexa saying "motion detected at the lanai". People Only mode appears to be pretty useless and my plans to rely on the cameras for home security are now in question. I even tried turning People Only mode off and setting the sensitivity as low as it goes but still got woken up in the middle of the night. :-( I'm going to try some spider spray on the ceiling by the camera but that won't do anything about the occasional flying insect drawn to the infrared LEDs.

SSame here, really frustrating. Can’t Ring put in a feature to disable the lights coming on and off at very least? I have two solutions 1 put Alexa in do not disturb or 2 turn the power off to the spotlight

THi @Scooter512. Manually turning on and off the lights is currently a feature that is supported by the Spotlight Cam. You can find out more about controlling your lights in this Help Center article [here](https://support.ring.com/hc/en-us/articles/115004192966-Controlling-the-Lights-and-Light-Settings-on-Your-Spotlight-Cam-Wired). I hope this information helps.

Same issue here. I tried people mode only and still nothing. I live on a lake and the spider webs are part of the environment. I tried spays in the past with no luck. What is the point of people mode only if it picks up spider webs? I purchased the cams for security reasons and I’m now forced to stop the alerts. Defeats the point of my investment. Please provide guidance

Hi neighbors. If bugs such as spiders or a spider web move very closely to your Ring Camera, you're likely going to receive a motion alert for it. It's always good to adjust your motion settings, as it may take some trial and error to find a combination of settings that works best for your home environment. For more information on adjusting the settings, check out [this](https://support.ring.com/hc/en-us/articles/210243483-Utilizing-Motion-Zones-with-your-Ring-Devices) Help Center article. You can also search the Community to see what DIY solutions other neighbors have employed to combat bugs or other wildlife that trigger your Ring Doorbell or Security Camera. To search, click the magnifying glass in the top right-hand corner and type in a topic or phrase. :)

RHi Caitlyn, I assume that you work at Ring. Your suggestion doesn't work. The spiders rebuild webs every night and the single strand web is right in the middle of the view so I can't change the area. No matter what I do and how much I spray they keep coming back and the camera thinks there is a person .... and I keep getting woken up in the middle of the night. Cant you do something to make the camera realize that is string with light reflecting is NOT a person???

It's happens to everyone. No way to stop it easily. I spray spider spray around my cameras. But if course rain washes it away...
