How to Discourage Hornet or Wasp Nests on Floodlight Hood
hardwired-security-cameras

For three years the hornets or wasps (not sure which) have insisted on building a nest inside the hood on my Ring Floodlight Cam. I repeatedly remove the next while it is small but they keep coming back and rebuilding. SOLUTION: I attached a cheap China bristle brush to the end of a long piece of pvc pipe. I smeared Vicks Vapo-Rub on the brush. Then I brushed the vaporub all around the inside of the floodlight hood while being careful not to get any on the floodlight lens. It has been one month and no more nests. In fact, when I did it, I touched 2 wasps with the vaporub. They instantly fell to the ground.

It is now 7 months later. No more wasps building nests in the camera hood. It only took one application of VapoRub to make them build elsewhere.
