Upgrading from Protect Basic to Plus
We have had 1 device on a Protect Basic plan for years. We just got another device that we want to save videos on. We pay annually for Protect Basic. I selected “Upgrade Plan” and agreed to a 1 year subscription. This would then cover all devices for twice the price. But…I still have my Protect Basic plan? What kind of scam is that? Why didn’t my plan “upgrade.” My 1st device is now covered on two plans? That’s not an upgrade, it’s just adding a plan! When I tried to cancel my Protect Basic plan it said it would delete all videos and events from our years old device. Uh no! What in the world kind of “upgrade” is this? How do I retain my old plan’s videos and actually upgrade? And why am I paying for two plans to cover one device? And why is my annual fee the full amount, when I just paid for 1 year last February? None of this makes sense.

Hi So if you want to add a device, you have to cancel the existing plan and start a new plus plan. and you lose the money you have already paid? I have an extra device i want to add but paid my basic plan in November.

Hi @user_46f013. The Ring Protect Basic plan covers only one Ring Doorbell or Camera at a time, while the Protect Plus plan covers all Ring Doorbells and Cameras at one location. You should be able to cancel the Basic plan now without issue, as you are subsscribed to the Plus plan. However, I'd still suggest downloading any videos you know you want to keep. Once a video has been deleted, either manually or due to the video storage time ending, it cannot be recovered. If you have any further questions about your Ring Protect plan, feel free to reach out to our support team.
