Hi I’ve just purchased a new camera but a bit confused, I was expecting it to record movement, like over night, capture motion when we are out, but are ring cameras live view cameras only? Unless you pay for a subscription? It appears fairly usless as a camera unless it’s live view permanently or have I got the settings wrong? I am new to this camera and was just expecting something extremely different than what I’ve bought.

Hi @user74346. In order for motion to be recorded and saved to the Ring Cloud, a Ring Protect Plan subscription is required. Without a Ring Protect Plan, you will have access to Live View and receive Push Notifications when motion is detected. You can learn more about the features of a Ring Protect Plan here.
