Plastic peeling off on Ring Doorbell - Solution

Hey all, I was searching today and noticed a lot of people were having the same problem with their ring doorbell; a plastic peeling haze over the lens causing a blurry image. Since there is no plastic cover replacement and seems people out of warranty were being offered a 35% discount for a new door bell (seems like a waste of electronics to pitch a Ring Doorbell due to a hazy thin piece of plastic. I used a small amount of Meguiar’s Scratch X “for fine scratches and blemishes” on a micro fiber cloth and buffed it into the plastic lens cover. Buffed it out. I then used Turtle Wax Ice on the plastic cover; small amount. ![image|500x500](upload://iJN9pkUc6KyWYvCDvqTthCG2MxL.jpeg) Top photo is the haze caused by the peeling plastic. Bottom image is after the treatment. Can fix this problem for about $15.

I was going to try using a compound today, I’m glad I saw this! When mine started to get blurry, I used my lens cleaning solution that I use on my high end camera lenses. However, it just got worse. The solution isn’t made for plastic, it’s made to remove oils and pollutants from glass. Heading to my garage to dig out my plastic lens restorer now!

This is really great! Thank you! What was the exact turtle wax ice product? There’s a seal n shine, a liquid wax, a spray wax, and a spray detailer (there may be more!)

I am pretty ticked off. These doorbells aren't cheap. They should not deteriorate like this. Amazon better address this issue otherwise I don't see much of a future for ring. They should also offer a fix for customers s well.

![IMG_5375|375x500](upload://mIhQUbEOBqFMyRiyhpHLXWNNz2p.jpeg) My lens cover became damaged a few nights ago during a thunderstorm while I was out of town. Still worked during the day and with lights activated; no night vision because the cover was only hanging by a small remaining piece of adhesive. Once I climbed up to visually inspect the camera I noticed what happened. That night the final piece of adhesive let go and the cover fell off. Camera still works but I’m worried about rain, etc getting into the electronics. CS was equally as unhelpful as the warranty expired. All I want is an acrylic cover (I’ve yet to find mine that fell) and the adhesive substance to replace the cover. It seems completely ridiculous to spend ~$150+ for an entirely new floodlight camera when it functions perfectly well and only needs a new acrylic weather-resistant cover. (I’m mostly replying to this thread because it’s nearly a month since the last post; it was helpful to me and others should be able to see this as well.)
