Floodlight Cam Dusk to Dawn Light Schedule Stopped Working
troubleshooting

Just thought I’d share this info as I know that a number of people have had this problem… I was having issues with my Floodlight Cam ‘Light’ no longer coming on at Dusk to Dawn as was set up and scheduled. After a lot of troubleshooting, I think I may have found a solution: 1. If you have other Ring devices linking “To” your troubled cam, “Unlink” the motion detection “Light” links in your other individual Ring devices that are linked to your troubled cam. You can keep the motion/Video links to your troubled cam in place if you have them set up, as I do not believe they are contributing to the problem. 2. Keep all your motion Lights and Video device links in place “From” your troubled cam linking out to other Ring devices, as I also don’t believe they are contributing to the problem. 3. Reset/restart your troubled Floodlight Cam (push the button on top of the cam). Once the cam was re-setup, for good measure, I also toggled off-on the Dusk to Dawn Light Schedule that I already had set up. After completing the above steps “Presto” my Dusk to Dawn light schedule started working properly once again. I’m not an expert in this area, but I think what perhaps could be happening here, is somehow the motion detection Light links from other devices could be dominating and interfering with the devices’ light schedules that they are linked to. In the case of a Dusk to Dawn light schedule, you shouldn’t really miss the motion detection Light links from other devices that you may have previously had set up, as your Floodlight Cam Light is always going to be on when it is dark anyways (when working properly). Disclaimer: As mentioned, I reset/restarted my troubled Floodlight Cam “After” I unlinked the motion/Light links from other devices … You might want to try to just reset/restart your troubled cam ‘first’ to see if this will just resolve the problem on its own. Also, there’s the possibility that the above troubleshooting steps will also work for light schedules that are set up for ‘specific’ times, and maybe after doing this, you can even go back and re-setup your ‘from’ motion/light links in your other devices and have everything working properly as it once was? There’s also the possibility that the above troubleshooting steps will also work for other models of Ring cameras with a built in light?  Folks can play around with these alternate solutions if they want, but for now, I’m just happy to have done it this way and have my Dusk to Dawn light schedule working once again on my Floodlight Cam. Also, in my case, it has only been a short while that this has been fixed, so I’ll check in again, if for any reason, my dusk to dawn light schedule stops working once again.
