My starred videos disappeared; app says they won't be deleted

I just lost a year's worth of saved/starred videos from my Ring Doorbell and Ring Cam, and I see that other people have complained about the same issue. I spoke to Ring Customer Service and did Chat with another rep and was told by both people that marking a video with a star does not prevent its deletion. But THE APP ITSELF says explicitly, after you click Delete All, "Delete events? Starred events or events from devices shared with you won't be deleted." So, apparently this is a complete lie, even though my starred videos were indeed protected from deletion for the past year until this week. Also Customer Service and Chat could not tell me how long a starred video will be saved (since they both deny that that a starred video will ever be protected from deletion, despite what the app says). I clicked the star option for 2 videos yesterday, and they are still saved even though I deleted all the other clips. But will I lose those 2 videos tomorrow, next week, next year? And why doesn't Ring update its app to state that starred videos WILL BE DELETED at some point? Ring's own customer support people have no clue at all about the app. So frustrating!
