Smoke Detector Advice / Kiddie / First Alert / Other Options?

Hi everyone, I’m new to the Ring ecosystem, but I’m feeling pretty disappointed and confused about the options available for smoke and carbon monoxide detectors. My original plan was to go with the First Alert product (link here), but after reading a lot of reviews and community commentary, it seems like these have issues with false alarms. That’s obviously a major concern. The alternative option—the Listener—feels like overkill for my situation. Since I need to replace my smoke alarms anyway, the idea of buying separate smoke detectors plus Listeners seems like an unnecessary expense and clutter. Finally, I’m aware of the announcement about the new Ring + Kidde smoke detectors (details here), but they won’t be available until April. That’s quite a wait, and I’m not sure if they’ll address the concerns I have. All of this has left me feeling uneasy about sticking with Ring for this aspect of home safety. I’m seriously considering returning everything and going with another solution that offers more confidence and better options. I’d really appreciate thoughts and advice from more experienced folks in this community. What have you done to address these concerns? Thanks in advance!
