I just watched a YouTube video that mentioned adding an SD card to my base station. What will this do for me? Thank you

Hi @Ragtimejoe. The Ring Alarm Pro has the capability to [process video locally](https://support.ring.com/hc/en-us/articles/360054769692-MicroSD-cards-for-Ring-Alarm-Pro-information) and store them in a Micro SD Card. This is done via Ring Edge, which is a feature included with the [Ring Protect Pro](https://ring.com/protect-pro) plan and only available on the Ring Alarm Pro. You can learn more about how [Ring Edge](https://support.ring.com/hc/en-us/articles/360054769672-Store-and-Process-Videos-Locally-with-Ring-Edge-and-Your-Ring-Alarm-Pro) works here. I hope this helps answer your questions!

stay away from locally stored videos. this is not a backup. they will not be recoverable at all. they are all encrypted and very difficult to download in batches. access is very slow as well. and when system fails, you will not be able to get any of your videos.
