My Ring base station started to go to a cellular backup mode for the past month. I did everything on my end with ATT. Reset the router, change channels, and change SID name. Nothing worked. Then I move to RIng tech support. I did everything they asked except connect to an ethernet port because I needed it on Wifi. Wifi signal is strong, and all other Ring devices like cameras, farther from the router, do not have connection issues. Nothing worked. They sent me a “new” unit, that looks like an open item, maybe refurbished of the same model. That worked for 24hrs, today I got the same message again. Even I tried blog’s recommendations, like rebooting the unit with no SIM card. nothing work. This is a firmware issue. How come the unit cannot reconnect back to the Wifi network itself, but reconnects after a soft reboot?

To kynect@capb1508 , Ensure your Ring Base Station is running the latest firmware. Firmware updates can often fix bugs and improve connectivity. Make sure your router is set to a less congested WiFi channel. If your router supports both 2.4GHz and 5GHz bands, try disabling band steering to see if the Base Station prefers one band over the other. Assign a static IP address to your Ring Base Station to ensure it always gets the same IP from your router.

I have a similar problem… my Ring Base Station does not accept wired data from my Spectrum Modem. 2 weeks have passed and the “Advanced Team” at Ring has done nothing to resolve the issue. Seriously? 2 weeks? They are still saying the same thing…but doing nothing. I am requesting a solution or real effort TODAY, else I will return the product and file a consumer complaint with the FTC and FCC.
