Ring alarm for tenants and myself

troubleshooting

I recently installed the Ring security system in my rental property (no cameras). I want my new tenants to have access to the system, without having access to my account. I’m also installing ring video equipment in my current home. How can I allow my tenants to fully control the security system to their house, while not having access to the one in my own?

Correct me if I'm wrong but you can add a shared user per device. So you can add them as a shared user for a particular Ring Alarm and thy'd be able to do everything while you're still the device owner and so you'd have the authority to remove them. If you want to go a separate account route, you don't need a new email address. Gmail has a feature where if you have the email address me@gmail.com then any email sent to me+whateveriwant@gmail.com will go to your address. So you won't need to create a new email. This way you can create a filter and a separate label for all rental activity.

Could you provide more detail on how this e-mail system would work? Is me@gmail.com the landlord's e-mail address?

Simply put, Ring is shortsighted on this. They need an offering for rental properties. It gives LL/PM the ability to manage the tenant and billing info, as well as freeze/flood/fire sensors. Door/window status, lock status, camera feeds etc, should be accessible only by the tenant. The LL/PM should be able to control the lock when the unit is marked unoccupied, by making 24 hour notice, or emergency notice. In all cases, the tenant is notified of the entry via email, text, app.

I might be a little late to this post, but I use ring security for my rental as well and I use the shared users feature to give my tenant access to the cameras (you can select what all they have access to). And for the base station, in the app under Settings- monitoring- emergency contacts, I put my tenant as contact 1 and myself (landlord) as contact 2 and I also have the tenant provide a verbal password of there choice (which can be found and updated in the emergency contact settings as well). This allows me to give them complete control without taking over authorization. Not sure if this helps, but throwing it out there.
