Relocate sensors placed with adhesive

Hi,
I’m about to move houses and I need to know hot to properly relocate all my alarm sensors, which are now placed using the adhesive they come with.
I’ve heard that this adhesive can be just cleaned off using water and it sticks again like new? Sounds kind of magic to me to be honest but I’ve also heard that 3M adhesives work like that too.
Is there a proper method to do this?
