I’m installing a z-wave contact sensor on a door. There’s not a wide enough area to mount the smaller part on the same “plane” on the trim around the door opening as there is on the door. I can mount it about a half inch higher on the moulding but it would be about a half inch out from the main part of the sensor. The instructions say it should be within an inch of the main part. Would it work mounted this way? Don’t want to attach them and try to remove and reattach them.

Just answered my own question by just holding them in place and moving them apart. It did work.

Hi @Bookworm71. I’m glad you were able to get this figured out! It’s definitely best to always test out the placement for Ring Alarm Contact Sensors before fully mounting them. We also have some tips on installing Contact Sensors on different shaped windows and doors here. Let me know if you have any other questions.
