Ring Alarm
Multiple Alarm Zones
Is there any way to setup multiple alarm zones? For example, a shop having an alarm zone that can be armed when say the “House” alarm zone is not armed. vs having everything armed all at one time I want to be able to arm separate building at separate times.

Hi @kellyho67. There is not a way to create "Zones" for the Ring Alarm system. You can manually disable some Sensors if you do not want them Monitored by selecting the sensor, tapping Mode Settings in the Ring app, and configuring it. I hope this is helpful.

While there may be no way to create “zones” I recently read on a blog somewhere, maybe even on a ring group, that you can actually separate two areas (a barn in the example given, by setting one building up (presumably a home) with professional monitoring, and setting up the barn with personal monitoring. That is one way. The other way, and it definitely a work around, is that you could set up the second area (again, an out building in this example) with a different address. For example, the home address being XXXX C St, and the barn being 123a C st. This second example is the approach I will be using to separate my home and shop, and both systems will be self monitored. I’ll try to remember to check back in here to report if I succeeded or failed.

Hey! I want to do something very similar. My wife works from home and her employer requires an alarm, so we bought a Ring system, assuming we could setup zones. We want to arm her office while the rest of the house is unarmed (but we would still be getting the sensor beeps when doors were opened). We don’t need professional monitoring so I was wondering if your work-around actually worked? And BTW, seems crazy that they don’t have zones - I remember our alarm 20+ years ago having zones! If anyone from Ring is paying attention, it looks like multiple customers are asking for this feature.

There is no way to create zones or groups for the Ring Alarm system. You can edit which sensors are monitored in each Mode under the Modes Settings, but you cannot create specific groups or zones. We have received this suggestion before on our Feature Request board, which can be found here. You can add your feedback and vote to that request.
